Getting accepted into the Iowa Startup Accelerator meant for us that we were able to “Re-write the DNA of our company.” When entering the ISA program we were known as Kyoger Media and focused most of our attention to providing a service.
Kyoger launched in 2010 and created websites, videos and guide books to help small- to mid-sized manufacturers manage their processes. Founders Trace and Kenny had backgrounds in consulting with these types of companies on best practices and processes. Which would hire highly-paid consultants to help document their workflows and processes, type them out on Word or Excel, print them out, laminate them and stuff them in a binder.
This created a problem in many manufacturing companies leading in product rework, recall and failure. Binders would contain outdated products and even if they were updated nobody has any interest in opening a binder and digging through it. It’s difficult, time consuming, and frustrating. We wanted to fix this problem with instructional videos and other digital media.
The new product named HowFactory is less about the content itself and more about the software-as-a-service platform that helps managers and workers communicate better. We are now in full swing of developing a cloud-based platform for managers and engineers to document their processes. If there is a problem, no problem. Changes can be make from the floor and sent to the administrator to be accepted. Then the process will be changed across each workers process.
