How Not to Kill Your Business Partner
There’s a special relationship between cofounders that changes as your startup moves from idea to reality. Kenny Stevenson and Trace Steffen, cofounders of HowFactory, moved from business contacts to friends to business partners over five years. As part of the first cohort in the Iowa Startup Accelerator, this team has learned valuable lessons about the ups and downs of this relationship that can vacillate between mutual reliance to mutual disgust. This session will be a panel discussion from Kenny, Trace, and some colleagues from the ISA. Attendees will not only get an amusing view into the relationship between two of Iowa’s saltiest entrepreneurs, but will learn handson tactics to move their own relationships and therefore businesses forward.

Scrum for Startups
Scrum is one of the mostused Agile methods for delivering quality products fast. It is also increasingly used in nonsoftware contexts to help teams improve communication and move quickly through the forming-storming-norming-performing stages. This handson workshop will introduce scrum ceremonies, values and principles behind the method, and illuminate the roles of Product Owner, Scrum Master, and Development Team. Taught by the folks behind the 2014 Iowa Startup Accelerator’s use of Scrum and Agile, the session is intimately aware of the reality of startups, their possible adoption of Scrum, and the good/bad of the method in startupland.
